Civil War

During the Spanish Civil war the building was severely damaged, besides the loss of pieces of art. In this period it was used as a hospital and military lodging when it was partly destroyed due to bombardments when the front of Brunete was active . Part of the roof collapsed during the war and together with the rain made part of the forge fall down. When the war was finished it was restored in the year 1942 by the Directorate General of Devastated Areas, and from that moment onwards, it was used as a school for girls which depended on the Constituency Office of Social Assistance, until 1973.
